Strategies to Dodge Jet Lag: Staying Energized During Your Travels

If you've traversed differing time zones, you're likely familiar with jet lag. It's that fatigued, sluggish, disoriented sensation you experience when your body's internal clock gets disrupted.

On excursions spanning just one or two time zones, many individuals find it manageable to wake up, eat, and retire without significant issues.

However, on extended journeys that take you farther and through multiple time zones, adjusting can prove to be much more challenging. Thankfully, there are approaches you can implement before, during, and after your journey to stave off jet lag and facilitate your body's transition to the new time zone.

Advice for Avoiding Jet Lag
Before Departure

During Your Journey

Adjust your sleep schedule as quickly as you can when you land. Don’t go to bed until it’s time to sleep in your new time zone.

Utilize sunlight wisely to assist your body in acclimating. After traveling east, morning sunlight can help you rise earlier. After heading west, afternoon sunshine can help you get used to sleeping later.
